NEWSLETTER

Dear Valued Parent/Guardian,

We give thanks and praises to the Almighty God who has enabled us to successfully start this academic year on a very good note. We are also making to God for the progress we are making.

Appreciation:  We sincerely appreciate all our parents/guardians for choosing Mercyland Int’l College, Abeokuta as a school for your children, We are aware that that your choice of the school places on us quite a great responsibility. Be rest assured that by the grace of God, we will do all that is within our ability to justify your confidence in us. Over the years we have been able to achieve and maintain a leading role in the education industry. We cherish this role and will not want to relinquish it.

Academics: Our primary assignment is provision of quality education and inculcation of high morals values to all our students. As such teaching and learning process is getting excellent attention in all classes. Our teachers are working hard to give each learner the attention he/she deserves while pursuing thorough coverage of the scheme of work.

2017/BECE RESULT: The state government has released the result of 2017 Basic Education Certificate Examination. To the glory of God, we recorded 100% success as usually.

Parents should note however that though the result is available, the certificate has not been released by the Ministry of Education.

COMPULSORY HOSTEL FOR SSS3 STUDENTS: In line with the school policy, all sss3 students must reside in the hostel from 8th January, 2018 when 2nd term begins till the end of 3rd term in July. This is to aid adequate preparation and proper concentration of the students as they write crucial and final examinations such as UTME, WASSCE and NECO SSCE. Over the years we have seen tremendous benefits of this policy in term of student’s outstanding performances and at turning them for independent life in the tertiary institutions. We therefore strongly appeal to parents for cooperation and compliance. Parents/Guardians should also note that each sss3 students will have to pay the hostel and school fees for the two terms (2nd and 3rd terms) in line with the policy.

WASSCE/NECO SSCE: We have commenced registration process for the above two examinations. Parents and guardians are hereby advised to ensure that each child makes use of his/her correct names and dates of birth (especially as in their international passports where it applies).

Each student will pay a sum of N50,000.00 (fifty thousand naira only) which covers all registration process for the two examinations. We encourage early payment to facilitate timely registration of our candidates.

STAFF AND FACILITIES: For effective teaching and learning process to occur, qualified and experiment staff must be secured and equipped with appropriate and adequate facilities to work with. We have been mindful of this fact over the years. Our teaching and non-teaching staff are carefully selected, motivated and equipped to fully achieve the arms and objectives of the school and our staff/students ration is very generous standing at one teacher to six students(1:6)

CLUBS AND SOCIETIES: Each student must be a functional member of at least one club or society. Some of the clubs and societies in the school are Press, Road Safety, JET, Red Cross, Band Brigade, Choir, Social, Literary and Debate, Drama, Cultural Troup. French etc Please encourage your child(ren) to be actively involved.

SPORTS AND APPROVED UNIFORM: Our Sports activities hold on Fridays. Students are to come to school neatly dressed in the approved sports outfit – white canvas (no colour stripes), white socks and the official shirt on short/skirt. Anything contrary is a violation of school rules and will attract punishment as a corrective measure.

SCHOOL FEES: As from Monday 6th November 2017, any student who has not fully paid his/her School fees will not be allowed into class. Parents should note that school fees ought to have been fully paid on or before the end of 2nd week of the term and therefore do all they can to offset the outstanding amount before we start week 8 on Monday 6th November 2017.

DISCIPLINE/NEATNESS: We want to really commend our parents, guardians, students and staff for maintaining the high moral tone the school has attained. However, we want our day students to be more punctual to school. Parents should also desist from keeping children away from school as absenteeism creates additional work for the child.

FRENCH TEXTBOOK JSS2 AND 3: JSS2 and 3 students should endeavour to buy comprends Francais Book 2 (For JSS2) and Book 3 (for JSS3). The author of the books is Jean Pierre (John Peter). The book is very useful for their French studies.

SECURITY ALERT: The school frowns at the idea of Parents and guardians coming to pick children from school as late as 5pm.  This act posse a lot   of security risks asides from stress caused the children and moral issues that may result. Our closing time is 3.30pm. Children should be picked latest by 4pm.

NEW MODALITY FOR WASSCE REGISTRATION: West African Examination council has given a new modality for registering candidates for their school based examination. Registration now starts from SSS1 when the data of candidates are to be captured and uploaded to generate a special number for each candidate. We therefore advise all our students to ensure that their personal data with the school are correct.
