2014 Discovery Help Foundation Mathematics Competition

Mercyland International College has done it again, 2014 Discovery Help Foundation Mathematics Competition organized for all secondary schools in Abeokuta has been concluded. The result released shows that;

1.  In the School Category,Mercyland Internationl College won 1st Position

2.  In the Teacher's Category, Mr Okenwa .A. from Mercyland International College emerged 1st .

3.  In the Student's Individual Category, Emmanuel Aliyu from Mercyland International College won 3rd Position.

We will continue to do our best to maintain the standard already attained by the school as one of the foremost secondary schools in Ogun State.

2012/2013 END OF THE SESSION PROGRAMME

END OF 2013/2013 ACADEMIC YEAR AT MERCYLAND SCHOOLS

Mercyland International School ended its 2013 academic year in grand style.

All that starts well ends well, little wonder on Tuesday 16th July 2013, Mercyland Kicked start its two day programme graduation ceremony with a community service and Prom Nite organized by the 2013 golden class of MIC (SSS 3 Students). They visited Stella Obasanjo Orphanage with lots of gifts that were donated to the orphanage children. Later that day a Prom Nite was organized in the school hall by the students who were beautifully dressed in their nice dinner outfit. Each MIC ambassador was called on by the master of ceremony (Tope Opawole) to evaluate their stay in Mercyland College, Mimic their teachers and give a farewell message. The D J thrilled each one with nice music and awards were given for different categories of awardees as well as souvenirs.

The grand event was the graduation ceremony that took place on Wednesday 17th July 2013, at ADEBAN Recreational Centre in Mercyland Hall of Residence, Simeon Adebo road G.R.A Ibara, Abeokuta.

The different categories of graduands were all in high spirit, they were all beautifully dressed. This big occasion had in attendance prestigious men and women from all walks of life. The occasion started with the procession of graduands, which involves the graduands in the Nursery, Primary and college (both Junior and Senior) also in the procession were the board of directors, management team, guest speaker, Chairman of the occasion, special guest of honour and other invited dignitaries.

Highlight of the event was the distribution of awards and certificates to best graduating pupils/students. The passing on of torch from outgoing head prefect to newly appointed head prefect was another colourful event that took place during the occasion aside different presentations by the ballet Group.

2nd Term 2014 Outstanding Performances

This term, the school exposed our students to very interesting and enriching club activities both within and outside the school. This is a demonstration of our strong belief in all round development of the child. We had vocational training for skill acquisition. Some of our students presently can barb, make/plait hair, mend /make shoes, make beautiful necklaces with beads, weave aso - oke, play various musical instruments and bake variety of snacks. We also took part in some selected competitions. Some of the competitions and the result achieved by the school are:

1. 2014 African Inter Collegiate Debate Competition organized by Centre for human         Security Olusegun Obasanjo Library in partnership with UNESCO Institute for African         Culture and International Understanding – We won 1st Position

2.  Debate Competition for all secondary schools in Abeokuta and Odeda Organised by Restore Hope for Nigeria – we won 1st Position.

3.  Quiz Competition Organised by Ogun state Ministry of Health for all secondary schools in Abeokuta –     We emerged Champion.

4. Bible quiz Competition held at Omolaja Sodipo Memorial College – 1st Position.

5. Impromptu Speech at Omolaja Sodipo Memorial College – We won 1st position.

6. Our Basketball team defeated their counterpart from Sport Academy Wasimi in a friendly match.

7.  Spelling Bee competition for all schools in Abeokuta – We emerged 2nd best with one of our       representative winning the individual start prize.

8.  Miming and Expression at Omolaja Sodipo Memorial College – We won 2nd position.

9.  At Sacred Heart College, we emerged 2nd in Dictionary Drill and 3rd in Quiz competition.

10. In Essay writing Competition for all schools in Abeokuta and Odeda, we won 2nd position.

11.  On 28th March, 2014 our basketball male and female teams played friendly matches with Golden Grace Team. Our teams won the matches –14 against 2 (Female) and 29 against 6 (Male)

All these attest to the vibrancy of our students.

Essay category: First position in Ogun state is won by Emmanuel Aliyu of Mercyland
International college the second position is also won by Sosimi Oluwadamilola Elizabeth
of Mercyland International College.
Art Category: Third position was won by Babatunde Adebayo of Mercyland International College.

A welcome party tagged "Gala/Social Night" was held in the school on Saturday 3rd February, 2016 to welcome students and pupils into the hostel of Mercyland Int'l School.

Events to mark the night includes presentation of play, Know your friend, Riddles and Jokes, French songs, Poem recitation, Dancing competition and refreshment e.t.c

The school has always put together a well designed welcome programme for the boarders and this term was not an exception. Rather the children fully enjoyed themselves and were systematically guided to imbibe good social habits and excellent moral conduct.
