ABOUT MERCYLAND

Mercyland International Schools is a private institution founded by Dr. (Mrs.) Anuoluwapo A. Bankole, a distinguished academician, astute researcher and an educationist par excellence.


Mercyland International Schools is located at Oba Alake Road, G.R.A, Ibara, Abeokuta, Ogun State. The School is established in 1994. The school started with a population of two pupils from kindergarten and has grown to become a conglomerate of schools from Creche to Senior Secondary School, all of international standard. The College section of the school started in 2004 with nineteen students and six teachers.

The first principal of the school was Mr. Pius K. Nanewotor who worked in the school for a period of two and half years. He was succeeded by the current principal of the school, Pastor Eze Moses Ifeanyichukwu on 12th August, 2005. Presently, the school has grown to a population of five hundred and ninety – four (594) students and sixty – two (62) teachers.

Mercyland International Schools, Abeokuta presented its first set of candidates for WASSCE / NECO SSCE in 2009 and the performance of the students was quite impressive

The school has continued to record an improved impressive performance as the years go- bye. Also, The outstanding performance of candidates from the school in JAMB (UTME) year after year goes a long way in establishing the fact that Mercyland International Schools,  Abeokuta has established itself as a force to reckon  with in the education sector.

Mercyland
International Schools ensures that viable members of staff are on ground at all

2.      National French Teachers Association Ogun State Branch organized French competition {2010}- 1st. position {college} 2nd position {primary}. The school represented Ogun State at the Nation Level at Umuahia, Abia State and came 4th out of 30states that participated.

18. In sports our female and male basketball teams won 3rd position in their respective categories of 2017 Milo basketball tournament. On the other hand, our relay team brought home many 1st position prizes.

 

19. In dictionary drills, impromptu speeches, debate, songs ministrations etc., we have carved a niche for ourselves as a great school.

24. Finalist at Wole Soyinka International Cultural Exchange Essay Competition- Representing  Ogun State.

 

25. Our male basketball team reached semi finals in 2016 Milo Basketball tournament in Ogun State.

 

26. The school was recognized by ADLACK Multi Media Concepts as the Best Secondary School of the year in 2016.

 

27. We equal took part in an invitational relay race held at the Bells Secondary School, Ota, and won the male category of the race.

 

28. Federal Road Safety Corps and shell Petroleum Development Company organized National Safety Competition for Senior Secondary Schools in Ogun State, We won 1st position at the senior level.

 

29. We also took part and won 1st  position in the spelling competition for all secondary schools in the state organized by Ski-Hi Entertainment.

 

30. In the Mathematics Competition for Junior and Senior Secondary Schools in Abeokuta South of Ogun State.

31. In Relay Race competition for all secondary schools held at Navy School, Mercyland won 2nd position {in both male and female categories}.

 

32. 2017 Milo Basketball Champion for all secondary schools in Ogun State, Mercyland won 2nd position [in both male and female categories].

 

33. At GGS we won 2nd position in Quiz competition and 3rd position in the Dictionary Drill

 

34. At Taidob College, we won 1st position in Debate Competition

 

35. In 2007, Mercyland was recognized as the Best Environmental Friendly School in the State.

 

36. In 2012 NAFDAC organized quiz competition for all secondary schools in Abeokuta and environ. Out of 70 secondary schools that participated, Mercyland won 2nd position.

 

37. Mercyland won 2nd position in the 2013 Essay Competition organized by Ogun State Ministry of Education, Science and Technology for schools in Egba Zone.

 

38. From 2008 to 2015, Mercyland consistently won 1st position in the yearly organized French Drama Competition for all secondary schools in Ogun State.

 

39. In 2015, Mercyland won 2nd position during National French Drama Competition for all secondary schools in Nigeria - a competition organized by National French Teachers Association in conjunction with French Embassy in Nigeria.

 

40. The school won the 2011 MCODER Award for Theatre Excellence in Secondary Schools.

 

41. In 2004 Mercyland International College received Vocational Excellence Award from Rotary Club of Abeokuta District 9110 Nigeria.

 

42. Mercyland received the 2010 Award for Outstanding Performance from National Council of Women's Societies of Nig. Abeokuta Chapter.

 

43. Mercyland was recognized by the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), as The Most Outstanding School of The Year 2013.

 

44. The school was recognized by ADLACK Multi Media Concept as The Best Sec School of the year 2016

 

45. In a keenly contested academic exercise Mercyland won one of the five slots and represented Nigeria in Uganda for 2012 AFRICAN GIFTED CHILDREN programme.

 

46. Again in 2013 Mercyland won two of the five slots and represented Nigeria in Ghana for the 2013 AFRICAN GIFTED CHILDREN programme.

 

47. Mercyland won 1st Position in the National Safety Competition organized by Federal Road Safety Corps in conjunction with the Shell Petroleum Development company for all secondary schools in Ogun State.

 

48. The school won 1st position in the junior and senior categories of the 2017 Mathematics Competition for all secondary schools in Abeokuta South.

 

49. In the maiden edition of inter schools drama competition organized by OOPL for all secondary schools in Abeokuta, Mercyland won The Best Actor prize and the Second Best Overall Performance.

 

50. At the end of 2018 Science Project Exhibition Competition for all secondary schools in Ogun State, Mercyland won 3rd position.

 

51. To mark 2018 Children's Day, National Gallery of Art Abeokuta organized Art Competition for all secondary schools in Ogun State and Mercyland won the following positions:

52. During the 2018 inter schools literary competition held in AGGS for all secondary schools in Abeokuta, Mercyland won the following prizes:

                            3rd position in Word Shuffle

 

53. In 2019, we took part in the under listed competitive events:

1. FOBA Youth Basketball Championship League organized by Ogun State Sport Council in conjunction with Fortune Basketball Academy: We won Bronze Medal.

 

2. Students Entrepreneurial Activities Hub Competition organized by German Cooperation (GIZ) for all schools in Ogun State: Mercyland won 3rd position and is one of the five schools selected to represent Ogun State during the national event which held in Abuja.

 

3. We took part in competitive events held at Lawson for all secondary schools in Abeokuta and won prizes as listed below:

We also won 2nd  Position in Textile Art during the Talent Hunt Competition organized by National Gallery of Art, Abeokuta.

 

In sports we won the bronze medals in the Milo Basketball tournament for schools in Abeokuta.

 

In the 2nd  TEENSTHINK Essay Competition for secondary schools in Southwest, Southeast and South regions of the nation, Mercyland made the Merit List comprising of ten schools.

 

Also, we are finalist in the state wide Mathematics competition at the final stage of the three-stage competition

 

55. In the year 2022 we took part in the under listed competitive events and achieved the results indicated:

1. Debate Competition for secondary schools in Abeokuta organized by ICAN Abeokuta District. It was held on Saturday 26" November, 2022. We won the highly coveted 1st  Position.

 

3rd  position in Essay/Debate Competition organized by Association of Resident Doctors Neuropsychiatric Hospital Aro, Abeokuta.

 

Our Male Relay team won Silver Medal in a relay race competition for secondary school students held in M.K.O. Abiola Stadium, Kuto on Thursday 8th December, 2022.

 

56. For the year 2023 Competitions:



We won 1st Position in a quiz competition organized by National Commission for Museums and Monuments, Abeokuta for all secondary schools in Abeokuta.



Also in the 2023 Children's Day Talent Hunt organized by National Gallery of Art, Abeokuta for all secondary schools in the state, we came home with the following prizes:

         i. 1st Position in Junior School Drawing;

         ii. 2nd  Position in Senior School Painting;

         iii. 2nd Position in Senior School Mixed Media

         iv 2nd Position in Junior School Drawing

 

We also had Friendly Basketball Tournament with male and female teams of Victoroti Collge. We won the two events convincingly

 

We played a friendly football match with Nobel House and won (3 - 1).

 

We took part in the 2023 Milo basketball tournament and made it to the quarter finals.

 

We won silver medals at M.K.O Stadium during inter school Relay Race.

 

We took part in Science Quiz for Secondary School in Ogun state organize by Nobel House and won 1s Runner up (2" Position).

 

We also took part in 2023 Children's Day Talent Hunt organized by National Gallery of Art, and won the following positions:

1st  Position and 2nd  position drawing (Junior),

2nd  position Mixed Media (Senior) and

                        2nd  Position Painting (Senior).

 

We also took part in international Museum Day Celebration organized by National Commission for museums and monuments and won 1st position in the quiz competition.

 

57.   In this year 2024, we continued with our winning strike.

1. We participated in the 2024 ICAN Catch Them Young Programme for all secondary schools in Abeokuta and win the following prizes:

         a.      Debate                       1st position

         b.      Quiz                            3rd position

 

2. A literary competition for all schools in Abeokuta held at Omolaja Sodipo Memorial Anglican School, and Mercyland won the under listed prizes in the events as specified below:

3. During Literary programme for all secondary schools in Abeokuta held at Ijemo titun College, we took part and won prizes as specified below:

4. Also in the Literary Programme held at African Church Grammar school Public (Christian Fellowship Competition), Mercyland took part and beat other schools in Abeokuta and won the under listed prizes:

5. We took part in the competitive events for all Secondary Schools Held at Omojola Sodipo School. We won as specified below:

We emerged from the event as the school with the highest prizes.

 

Our female relay team won bronze medals in the inter schools invitational relay race held at Sacred Heart College.
