ABOUT MERCYLAND
Mercyland
International College is a private institution founded by Olootu A.G.O.
Bankole, a frontline industrialist in Ogun State and his wife, Dr. (Mrs.) A. A.
Bankole, a distinguished academician, astute researcher and an educationist par
excellence.
Mercyland
International College located at Oba Alake Road, G.R.A, Ibara, Abeokuta, Ogun
State is established in 2004. The school started with a population of nineteen students
and six teachers.
The
first principal of the school was Mr. Pius K. Nanewotor who worked in the
school for a period of two and half years. He was succeeded by the current
principal of the school, Pastor Eze Moses Ifeanyichukwu on 12th
August, 2005. Presently, the school has grown to a population of five hundred
and ninety – four (594) students and sixty – two (62) teachers.
Mercyland
International Schools, Abeokuta presented its first set of candidates for
WASSCE / NECO SSCE in 2009 and the performance of the students was quite
impressive
However
the school has continued to record an improved impressive performance as the
years go- bye. Also, The outstanding performance of candidates from the school
in JAMB (UTME) year after year goes a long way in establishing the fact that
Mercyland International Schools,
Abeokuta has established itself as a force to reckon with.

International Schools ensures that viable members of staff are on ground at all

through series of seminars, workshops, in –service training and courses. And
more so, the staff are encouraged to undergo related courses in various

job. Mercyland boasts of qualified, dedicated teachers with First Degrees and
Second Degrees. We have a generous academic staff/student ratio of One teacher
to six students. Hence, our students enjoy proper personal attention,

ACADEMICS
The school
operates a well structured broad and dynamic academic program which enables the
students to come out with excellent performances in standard examinations such
as State/NECO BECE, NECO SSCE, WASSCE, UTME, SAT, TOEFL, IGCSE.
The
ease with which the students of the school secure admission into choice
institutions both in and outside the country is a latent proof of well designed
academic programme and very high level of effective teaching and learning
process in the school.

COMPETITIONS/PRIZES
1. Nigerian children connect’ A Radio/TV Quiz
& Debate Competition organized by Tripod Media in conjunction with the Ogun
State Government: Debate -1st position;
Quiz 3rd position.
2. National Teachers’ Association Ogun State
Branch organized French competition: From 2010 – 2015 Mercyland has been
winning and representing the state. Mercyland is the first school in the state
to win the competition for three consecutive years and it will be recalled that
the school represented Ogun State at the National level and won the second
position out of 30 schools from all over the federation and Abuja
3. In the 2014African Regional Inter-Collegiate
Debate Competition organized by Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library Centre
for Human Security and UNESCO Institute for African Culture & International
Understanding, Mercyland International
College, Abeokuta won the coveted 1st Position
Also the school took part in other numerous competitive events and won several prizes. Below is a list of some selected events and prizes won:
1. Mathematics competition for all secondary
schools in Abeokuta organized by Discovery Help Foundation.1stposition.
2. JAGO spelling bee competition for all
secondary school students in Ogun State. 1st position
3. Essay competition for all junior secondary
students in Ogun State.1st position
4. Quiz competition organized by the
visionaries at FUNNAB.1st position
5. From 6th-10th Jan,2012, our student Ogundimu Adeoye
represented Nigeria in an academic programme organized for a carefully selected
gifted children in Africa. The programme was held in Uganda.
6. Again out of the available 5 slots for
Nigeria, Mercyland won 2 slots to fly Nigeria’s flag in the African gifted
foundation academic programme for African children held in Ghana.
7. In sports, the school’s female and male
basketball teams have won several medals in their respective categories of Milo
basketball tournament over the years. On the other hand, our relay team
brought home many 1st position prizes.
8. In dictionary drills, impromptu speeches,
debates, quiz competitions, match past, song ministrations etc., we have carved
a niche for ourselves as a great school. For instance

e. Federal Road Safety Corps and the Shell Petroleum Development Company organized National Safety Competition for Senior Secondary Schools. We won 1st position at the state level.
f. We also took part and won 1st position in the
spelling competition for all secondary schools in the state organized by Ski-
Hi Entertainment.

In the maiden edition of inter schools drama competition organised by OOPL for
all secondary schools in Abeokuta,
Mercyland won The Best Actor prize and the Second Best Overall
Performance.

At the end of 2018 Science Project Exhibition Competition for all secondary
schools in Ogun State, Mercyland won 3rd position.

To mark 2018 Children’s Day, National Gallery of Art Abeokuta organised Art
Competition for all secondary schools in Ogun State and Mercyland won the
